Meadowcroft resurfacing

Many residents have complained to us about the condition of the Meadowcroft road, asking us to get it resurfaced. We have raised this issue with our officers and have asked for work to be done on the road.

Gays Place

After several months of waiting , Residents of Gays Place will be pleased to learn that the Council have now given a firm date when the Street Lighting will be put into place. The Utility Company have told us this will definitely happen during the last week of December 09. Paul Findlow writes- ''Although I pressed for this to be completed by the end of September, this sadly will not happen, However the Residents of Gays Place can look forward to more security by the beginning of 2010.

Police Operation

On 25th September the police carried out an operation in Stratton

Targeting licensed premises and anti social behaviour associated with the consumption of alcohol. Levels of crime in Stratton are relatively low but due to local concerns raised following consultation, the police have responded quickly and your local councillors support this initiative. If you have any concerns about anti social behaviour and alcohol sales, please don’t ignore it, report it to your local police or Councillors.

Brooks Close Anti-social Behaviour

Following complaints from residents in Brooks Close, your local Councillors have asked officers to work closely with the local police to address the problem. The major actions to be taken include cutting back trees and shrubbery and possibly blocking off access to the problem area and a good tidying up of the whole area.

Uncut grass

Over the last year we have received complaints from residents regarding land which is not actually in the Ward of St Phillips, but our residents use it regularly for recreation. The land is adjacent to the scout hut (near Taylor Crescent) and is the land lying to the North East of Ermin Street in Stratton St Margaret. Concerned residents have complained to us that the grass has not been cut. We have checked the land registry details and can confirm that the land is not owned by the Council so responsibility for the maintenance of this area lies with the owner, not the Council. Please contact us if you want further details of the owner of the land.

Queensfield Pub events

We have received some complaints about parking and noise due to events at the Queensfield pub and would ask any residents to contact us if you feel that anti social behaviour is linked to events at this licensed premises.

Headlands School

Demolition of the old school is due to take place close to December. Your Ward Councillors have contacted planning officers to ensure that regulations are in place to protect residents from out of hours working on the site, access of heavy vehicles, etc. If you are concerned about any aspect of this demolition please do not hesitate to contact us at the usual numbers.

Jeffries Avenue Cycle Path

An application, S/09/123, “For the provision of a footpath / cycleway and associated street lighting from Wheeler Ave to Cricklade Road via Jefferies Ave and Wheeler Ave to Kembrey Street together with vehicular access to the allotments” has been proposed. Some residents object to the proposal, as they are concerned that this development will lead to further development in the area and will affect their local amenity. Your councillors have asked that this application come before committee to enable residents to represent their views to the Planning committee. Please contact us if you have any views on this issue, whether objecting or supporting.
