Russell Holland was elected to Swindon Borough council early in the hours ofd the 4th May 2007. Russell brings significant experience to the Statton team gained through a number of roles - here is a brief look at some of the work that Russell has been involved in;

Caseworker - Role includes examining and reviewing applications from individuals seeking free legal assistance and placing cases with volunteer barristers.

Grants/Research Officer, Nationwide Foundation – Role includes examining and reviewing applications for funding for community groups and carrying out a detailed analysis of organisations’ finances, management structure and project delivery, including visiting charities to interview applicants.

European Parliament - worked in office of Member of European Parliament carrying out research on economic and legal impact of European regulations, particularly in relation to the chemicals industry and the environment.

State of California - placement with an Administrative Law Judge covering US administrative law, primarily relating to unemployment insurance as well as an introduction to US criminal law and advocacy.

United States Senate Internship, Washington D.C. – worked for US Senator Harry Reid as a legislative assistant and researcher.

House of Commons Internship, London – working for the Shadow Minister of Transport, Bernard Jenkin MP as a research assistant.

House of Commons Internship, London – Worked for Nick St. Aubyn MP as a research assistant, producing a critical appraisal of education policy and making recommendations for methods of scrutiny as well as reform.

Harcourt Chambers, London and Oxford – An insightful placement with a barrister covering work, family and criminal law.

Hackney Law Centre - and provide clients with advice on consumer, debt and other legal matters.

Swindon Advocacy Movement. - volunteer as a Citizen Advocate to assist adults with learning difficulties in their day to day lives.

President and Treasurer of Oxford University Homeless Action – presided over the executive committee organising volunteer drives, fundraising, co-ordination with other statutory and local organisations, raising awareness in the community and distribution of funds of £10,000.
